KAO Trip To Russia - Summer 2007
Well, it’s time to start planning for a trip to Russia in 2007!
You may have heard that we were invited by our Russian visitors last summer to make a return visit to Russia in 2007. We have been requested to start providing some of the basic inputs needed to get things moving. This includes dates and numbers.
The basic plan for the trip is to spend a few days in Moscow, a few days in St. Petersburg, and then a boat trip between the two cities, with some historic stops along the way. It is expected that the total duration of the trip will be two weeks, including travel time from/to Canada.
It has been determined that the best time for the trip will be in the period between July 15 - 31, 2007. The exact dates still need to be confirmed, but that will follow later.
What about the cost of the trip? We don’t know yet, and will work that out once we hear back from the Russian committee. The Russians committee will get us the best deal possible. Most of us have traveled enough to estimate what a 2 week trip to Europe will cost, so I will leave that up to your imagination for now. As far as air transportation to Russian and return, that will likely be left to each attendee. However, once we know the exact dates, we can offer suggested alternatives.
So, what we need to know from each of you at this time is if you will be able to join the trip. Please respond with a YES, NO, or MAYBE. Also indicate if you want Double or Single accommodations. While we are not asking for a firm commitment ($$$) at this time, it is best for the planning if we can get a fairly accurate count. Our Russian committee will do some detailed planning based on our estimated numbers, and then provide that feedback. With the detailed feedback (dates, costs) we will then revert to each of you for a firm commitment of dollars. Our goal is to get to the firm commitment stage by the fall of this year.
For now, we would like your preliminary indication (YES, NO, MAYBE) by MAY 29, 2006.
