Dave Meston passed away suddenly in a tragic car accident on December 11, 2004 at the age of 47 years. No words can describe the type of man that Dave was; a son, husband, father and friend. His strength and wisdom endeavors to live on in his surviving family members, daughters, January and Lindsay; sons, Jackson and Brenden; loving wife Kelly; and the joy of his life granddaughter Mishayla. He is also survived by his mother Helen of Westlock; sister Lorraine (Keith) Kupsch and family of Langdon; brother John (Joan) and family of Westlock; brother Keith (Darlene) and family of Peace River; and brother Ron (Kathy) and family of Peace River.
Dave was born in Westlock on February 6, 1957. In 1971, Dave and his family moved to Peace River for his high school “formative” years where he played hard and held many fond memories dear to his heart. In 1975, Dave moved to Calgary to continue his education. Here he found his wife and soulmate, Kelly, to whom he was married! for the last twenty-five years. His education in the petroleum industry led him down many paths, including two and a half years working in Russia, one year in Africa and many years in the local oilfield. His ingenuity and inventiveness led to the development and implementation of a patented scrubbing system and a successful oilfield business, Am-Gas, still operating today. Dave moved his family to Didsbury in 1995 to pursue his passion in farming. He will be forever missed, forever loved and always remembered. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Olds, with Father Les Drewicki, Celebrant. Memorial tributes may be made directly to the Children’s Wish Foundation. As a tribute to Dave Meston, a tree will be planted in the Heartland Tree Memorial Park, Olds.
