Hello from Julia Gousseva

Hello former KAO colleagues and friends,

I have been diligently checking the website for quite a long time but never got around to sending a message to everybody (even though Dennis and Ruby have been asking me to do it for the last year). My name is Julia Gousseva. I used to work in Usinsk in 1992 and 1993, mostly with Dennis Knudtson in HAKO (remember those little islands of civilization among the snowy Komi desert?). I also spent some time in POISK — a lot of engineers who worked there probably saved their helicopter-quality ear plugs just as a reminder of how noisy life can get.

Since then, I made some drastic changes in climate by moving to Tucson, Arizona. I have been in Tucson since August 1993, first as a graduate student, and now as a community college instructor. I have a Masters’ and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, and I teach composition classes (yes, in English; life can be stranger, I am sure). I have a four year old son Alex and an eight year old nameless cat (any suggestions?). If you would like to get in touch with me, please send me a note jgousseva@hotmail.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Best wishes to all of you!

Sincerely,

Julia Gousseva
