KAO 11 Year Reunion Nov 9, 2002 Calgary
Letter from Dennis Knudtson
It has been a while since the last notice of the next KAO Reunion in Calgary. We have been updating our e-mail address list. We have had a lot of help from many of you for this; thank you. As will always be the case though, we are still missing several addresses, and more input is always welcome.
As mentioned earlier, the Reunion (11 Years) will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002.
The location of the event will be at the Blind Monk Bar and Restaurant in Calgary. The address is 2500 - 4 Street SW, Calgary. This is the same location we used two years ago.
The event will begin as soon as people wish to gather. In times past we have targeted to begin around 6 PM, but several people have started coming even earlier. That’s great! Whatever works. As before, we will not be taking registrations (but it is always good to hear from each of you whether you are planning to come or not) or collecting any fees; everyone is responsible for their own drinks and food. Order food whenever it suits you; the restaurant has a good variety of simple dishes at reasonable prices.
This past year has seen many changes for KAO group. We hear that in Usinsk the shape of the KAO we remember has changed considerably. Many people have left to start new jobs. And we hear that a few Canadians have returned to Usinsk to work for one of the other organizations. The old “Gulf” organization continues to change; first to Conoco and now on to Philips (several of our KAO people are still involved in the changes there). And of course, most of you are aware, that Ross Baillie passed away in early June. Many of the group continue with rotational positions in various parts of the international world. We hope that as many of you as possible will come to Calgary on November 9 to visit and get updated on all the changes.
Many of you had requested updated copies of the KAO Contact List. I have not sent any out because of the major updating that has been conducted this summer. The list is now in better shape and I will send it to any one who responds to this e-mail requesting one. It is on an Excel spreadsheet.
As always, I welcome any updates that people have to send me; just send changes in a note to me; do not add them to the spreadsheet, as they are harder to locate that way. Looking forward to seeing many of you on November 9!
